Diego Leonardo Zawadzky Zapata

Former Board members

Diego Leonardo Zawadzky Zapata was born in Bogotá, Colombia, and has been a Marist Brother since 1988. 

Br. Diego has worked as an educator in Colombia and Ecuador, has been the principal of several schools, and has directed various stages of Marist initial formation. He was also a member of the Provincial Council of Norandina during his assignment in Venezuela, and a missionary in Cambodia for six years. Additionally, he served as a Provincial Delegate for Child Protection and worked in a Marist social center in a marginalized neighborhood of Medellín. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Religious Sciences and Catechetics, a post-graduate diploma in Educational and Social Research, and a Master’s degree in Leadership and Management of Educational Centers.

He has been appointed as the Director of the Marist Secretariat of Solidarity – CMI since September 2025, and in this role he oversees the Marist work in this area throughout the world and coordinates the advocacy work in Geneva.
